Shropshire Shufflers
An Inclusive Running Club
Coaching
At the Shropshire Shufflers we provide several running and training nights and some daytime runs. We are a Road Running Club and use Track Training to improve specific aspects of our running. Over recent years we have increased our participation in other disciplines such as Trail/Hill Running and Cross Country. Find out more about these in our Events Sections

GROUPS
We arrange routes and timings based on the below criteria. Use these as a guide to the right group for you, based on your ability or what sort of run you wish to join. We encourage runners to move up and down groups as their fitness allows. Run leaders and coaches will always ensure that runners are not left behind
The Beginners Group runs weekly through a yearly training block and teaching new runners how to warm up and run correctly and avoid injury, introducing different running drills and exercises, ending with proper cool downs. The group gently increases its distance, through 5k until, alongside many other club runners, a measured Beginners 10k event in August. It is open to complete novices and all we ask is that people wear suitable sports clothing and footwear. Don't forget to bring some water!
Our Walk/Jog Group is ideal for people who are returning to running, can run for short periods or those taking it easy after injury. The group could cover between 3.5 and 4.5 miles (about 6.5km) in an hour session depending upon the session planned.
Runners that can run for an hour, with a few stops, fit into our Fundamentals Group, and could expect to cover between 4.5 and 5.5 mile (about 8km) in an hour session depending upon the session planned. This group is for people progressing from the beginner’s group and for those looking to improve their running and build up to an hour running.
Comfortable at covering an hour of constant running? Then get involved with the Foundation Group, and you could expect to cover between 5.5 and 6.5 miles (about 8.5 to 10.5km) in an hour session depending upon the session planned. If a group is advertised as a ’Steady Foundation Group’ they will be aiming for the former distance with an expected pace to achieve this
We suggest that the Events Group is best suited to experienced runners who would be comfortable covering 6.5 miles+ (about 10.5km+) in an hour session if the planned session requires.
During the Summer some Wednesday nights are replaced by an Alternative Run in a scenic location with refreshments afterwards.
Also during the Summer, a number of hill/fell running evenings are organised.
Details of Alternative Runs and any hill/fell evenings get posted on the Events page.
